Sorry no new pictures… you’ll have to look at the old ones.

I have not taken a single picture of my delightful children this week so I am going to take you on a trip down memory lane. Peter and I were married ten years ago (August 18, 1998) and I have just been going through our wedding pictures and scanning them into our computer. The one thing I regret not doing for our wedding and reception is hiring a professional or even a not-so professional photographer. And it’s all my mom’s fault that I don’t have the negatives because she never keeps them (we got married a couple of years before … Read the rest

The Johnson’s in Real Life

You know your kids are weird if….they sit in front of the TV absorbed in watching a cooking show (it’s called Good Eats on the Food Network – it’s hilarious!).
One last picture of my brother Tyler.
One last picture of my sister Megan. I only had a couple of days to teach her how to cook – she made a fried egg (sunny side up), a berry cobbler for a dessert, and in this picture she is cutting up chicken for a family favorite called Santa Fe chicken wraps. My mom has forgotten to teach Megan how to cook … Read the rest

Johnson Family Vacation 2008 – Savannah, Georgia

My sister Megan and my brother Tyler were visiting from Utah so we decided to take them to Georgia.

First stop: Old Fort Jackson

We got to see these re-enactment guys shoot a cannon ball at this Navy ship that was coming into port.
Peace on Earth
The kids’ favorite part of the whole fort was the officer’s privy.
For being a toilet facility, the officer’s privy sure has a nice view.

This fountain is found at Forsyth Park in downtown Savannah. It was built in 1854. When Sherman and his Union soldiers came … Read the rest

Happy Birthday to Isaac and the lady known as Isaac’s mom…

Count the candles. I didn’t need a birthday cake – I shared my special day with my own personal carton of Haagan Daaz. Also, there was not enough candles for 29 plus 4 for our combined ages (I could have stuck a bunch of toothpicks in but I didn’t want to pull them all out).

Don’t you love eating a piece of birthday cake after some enthusiastic child has blown saliva all over it?
Isaac got some new Hot Wheels and a Triple Stunt Track. We have been trying for a while to set it up. It is more complicated … Read the rest

Swim Lessons Finis and Jumping on the Couch is Fun to Do

Yes, I am a bad parent and I admit it. I frequently (like every day) let my son jump and do flips on the couch. But how often do you get a picture like this? (Sydney is watching the episode of I Love Lucy where Lucy and Ethel steal the cement block with John Wayne’s footprints and signature that is in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater).
I’m singing the I Love Lucy theme song. Join in any time.
Every one should watch I Love Lucy. It’s a happy show.
Last week I reported that Isaac’s swim class had no kids … Read the rest

Swim lessons and no training wheels…Oh, and Happy Father’s Day!

Sydney is the super-duper underwater swimmer in her class. She had lots of fun swimming to the bottom of the pool to grab a diving stick. That girl just loves her goggles!
Isaac with his friend Dayton getting ready for swim lessons. His teacher is very lucky to have a class of five pre-school age kids who all like the water!
Here is Isaac kicking in the water. He has discovered the trick of taking water into his mouth and spitting it in my face when I am helping him swim at the pool. Who teaches kids these tricks?
