The month of February always seems to fly by so quickly (either that or I am just going along with the usual cliche about the shortest month of the year) and I am racking my brain trying to remember what we have been up to all month! We recently found out that we will be moving to Eielson Air Force Base (near Fairbanks, Alaska) and are waiting for official orders for our move date.

Knit One, Purl Two
I finished my first Knitted project! The result: a grey scarf for Peter (he was not at home to model it so I hired a professional for the job).
Isaac is so ADORABLE!
The other day Isaac said, “Mom, when we move to Alaska we’ll have to check our blood pressure all the time to make sure our blood is not freezing!”
Isaac just finished learning a very simple arrangement of “Beethoven’s Ninth” on the piano. Now he is constantly requesting to listen to Beethoven on the CD player! Right now he is jumping off of the couch while listening to a sonata in C minor and having the time of his life. I’ll just enjoy this classical music phase while it lasts…
Four Beach Bums? Really?
As a friend of mine pointed out, we will obviously need to change our blog title when we move to Alaska. In all honesty, we really are not even ‘beach bums’ at all; we grew up in the suburbs of Salt Lake City, UT surrounded by mountains. Alaska or Bust!
Peter just called and told me he got the job in Alaska; we’ll be moving sometime this summer! I’ll share more details when I get them.

To Knit or Not to Knit…
Here is some of my knitting progress so far:
My first project. This is the classic knit or garter stitch. Check out the row with the holes – those are on purpose. It’s called yarn over.
I read in a knitting book that when you get in the rhythm of knitting, your mind can do something similar to meditating. I think I have a LONG way to go before I reach Nirvana while knitting – apparently I have a thing for licking my lips while I am working on it. Every time I stop my lips feel dry. Guess I Hope you weren’t looking forward to lower orange juice prices this year…
Enough said.

Mr. Basketball
Isaac is absolutely LOVING basketball! Watching a gaggle of 5 and 6-year-old kids play a game is hilarious; running down the court with only a couple of dribbles, kids going the wrong way, Isaac dribbling the ball under his leg and out the back (I taught him this trick) in the middle of a game, and kids trying to make impossible shots.
